ONLINE SHOPPING : Shipping Details And Shipping Methods In Jordan 

   As it seams to a lot of you shipping to the middle east didn't see the light until recently and more to that it is focused on the Gulf countries , we don't get much attention at all here in Jordan when it comes to shipping offers and discounts from worldwide companies and firms , we hope that more exposure to the trade will change that in the future .

  One of the main points we talked about in the previous post was "Shipping Details and shipping methods " and we want to give you the basic tips on how to get your details correctly and chose a preferable shipping method for your purchases , as to its importance and critical standing when it comes to getting your parcel as fast and as safe as you can . 

  

 Shipping Details 

  It might sound easy to some of you , but a lot of people who start online shopping get it wrong at the beginning , typing in your information needs to be precises and accurate , the first thing you need to type almost all the time is your personal name , here in Jordan your name should be exactly typed like the spelling in your passport or ID and try to type it in three sections your name , your fathers name and your family's name , also most of the time try to type it in English rather than Arabic , considering the people who will handle your parcel might be foreigners most of the time .

  Your location is as important as your name , although most of the time the shipping companies in Jordan check with you by phone before sending out your parcel but its very helpful if you get it right the first time , as you might have tried to type in your location , you can see most of the time it has two lines Address line 1 and Address line 2 it might be triky and you might fill it randomly at first , but here is the right way to do it :

        Address line 1 : City - Country - District - neighborhood - Street name - Building number  .         Address line 2 : floor number - apartment number .

 most of the information you need in Address line 1 can be obtained from your housing information if its an apartment or a private residence , the city can be : Amman , Aqaba , Irbid ... etc . the country will be Jordan " if you are from Jordan obviously " , The district will depend on your municipality in Amman it can be Shmeisani , khalda , tlaa al ali and so on , and each one of these district has its neighborhoods such as in khalda you can find al khaldeen , alzohoor and other neighborhoods , its oddly enough that you can get this information from Google Maps as well as your street name , also in the bast couple of years almost every building now has a number which is very helpful to identify your residence .

  Address line 2 is simply your private space in the building including your floor number and apartment number , if your apartment doesn't have a number you can always re fare to it be left of elevator or right of elevator . 

  

   When it comes to your phone number its pretty easy you just need to add +962 before your actual number some websites don't need you to add in the international code and present a 10 digit phone space you can stick to your usual 079####### or 077####### or 078####### depending on your provider . 

  

  The last thing you might need is your areas Postal Code or Zip Code ,  also a lot of people mistake their international code 00962 as a postal code , you can get your postal code from here  , it also depends on your districts and neighborhood , so its more precise  than you think , as in example the postal code for Abdoun Alshamali, Zahran is 11183 while the postal code for

Az-zarqa Free Zone is 13134 , you can search this website for your areas postal code .

Shipping Methods in Jordan 

  As we talked in the Previous post , shipping can be put into to categories : Public sector and Private sector . First things first the Jordan Post offices were the first place anyone thinks of , when  they need to send or receive things internationally and inside the country , it is relatively cheap and they have offices almost everywhere , but most of the online websites don't deal with them or if they do they take ages for your parcel to get here , lately they added the Express Shipping option to their system and as it sounds its faster , safer and a little bit more expensive , but it might do for some websites although i didn't try it yet , i will be putting it under the test in the next reviews i make .

We don't have a lot of competition when it comes to the Private Sector ,especially for personal uses and individuals , also we don't get much advertisements promoting the existing companies , most of the companies in Jordan ship for retail purposes and its a shock for them when a single person goes to order one item , but when it comes to personal uses we have the three most used companies : Aramex , DHL and UPS  we have multiple Cargo shipping companies but i don't think they fit out criteria here , i have tried two of the previous companies mentioned and i am planing to try the third in the upcoming reviews , i want to give you my direct experience when i do so , with real time updates .  

    my most used and most famous company in Jordan would be Aramex , since they update their system and have offers almost all the time , when i first used Aramex

 i didnt know about the personal shipping options they have , and at that time i ordered a dress from AliExpress and the salesman was already shipping via Aramex , i had ordered an item from AliExpress prior to that but it was using normal Jordanian post , it took almost three months to get to my house and it took me two weeks tracking it inside Jordan as they didnt know where was the closest post office to my house was !!! , the dress i ordered arrived very quickly i got shocked , i didn't know how much the fare was since the salesman was taking care of that considering  the dress was 120 $ " lets not talk too much about it , it was the worst dress i ever bought in my life , my mom kept laughing at me for ages !!!" it took almost one week from the time the salesman told me he shipped it . 

  In Aramex they have two options for personal shopping and they recently added a third , the first one wold be Drop and ship where you provide them with the item you want to buy and the calculate the shipping and the time and give you the final cost , all that is done in one of their offices in Amman of any Governorate , the second would be the most famous one now Shop and Ship , which i personal have been using for the past 4 years , you buy an account " with refundable money " in which they give you 22 addresses around the world " your address will be a small closet in Aramex's offices in that country " and whenever you wanna buy something from a that country or anyplace close to it , you just use your shipping details provided for that country , they give you an address in china , united kingdom , united emirates , USA and a couple of other countries , i used my USA account the most since amazon sometimes gives free shipping to USA and i wanted to take advantage of that , whats cool about it is that the shipping rate is the same no mater what country you ship from its 8.4 jd for the first 500 grams and it becomes 6.8 jd for any additional 500 grams .

  The shipping rate might not look cheap but for the time being its very convenient concerning the speed and accuracy they deliver , they also give you the option of handling your costumes affairs , if you have exceed your allowed 100 JD or your ordered something wired , you might get a little delay in the customs , they help fix that for 30 JD or so . 

  On the other hand my experience with DHL was brief and indirect , i used it to ship documents for Canada using the University of Jordan , they had an office which provide promotional prices for students , it would have cost me 50 JD to ship them outside from any normal DHL office but using the Universities branch it was only 10 JD , they give you a tracking number and i was fully aware where my documents where at all the time , never tried their shipping systems but will do in the future and keep you updated . 

  As i heard from other people we have TNT and ZIM shipping companies too , but i never heard anyone lately using them and i am welling to give them a try later , if you want to hear about my experience with them please share this post and leave a comment telling me what you think .
